“Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal provides the City School District with additional money, and a monitor to help map and oversee its financial and academic improvement. ❚ The district would receive a $12.8 million increase over what the state had projected for 2020-21, bringing the total proposed allocation to $673.2 million. ❚ Additionally, the district would be eligible to tap into $200 million set aside for high-need districts, state officials said. ❚ Mayor Lovely Warren saw the monitor as a “first step” in changing the governance of the financially and academically troubled school district.”
