Rush-Henrietta Central School District reported that two students who attended school in person last week have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the first of a stream of infections expected by school officials throughout the area.
One student was at Crane Elementary School and the other at Vollmer Elementary School, Superintendent Bo Wright wrote in a letter to families and staff on Friday. Both went to school last Tuesday, the first day of the school year, and then stayed home the rest of the week.
“(Monroe County Department of Public Health) officials tell us they do not believe anyone in our schools is at risk, given the masking and physical distancing protocols we have in place,” Wright wrote. “No one from our schools has been identified by the department of health as having what is called a ‘close contact’ with these students.”
