  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary and Trends Report, poor mental health and suicidal thoughts and behaviors are increasing for nearly all groups of youth.
  • The CDC has developed its new action guide titled Promoting Mental Health and Well-Being in Schools: An Action Guide for School Administrators and Leaders. It focuses on school-based strategies and approaches to support student mental health.
  • The action guide describes six in-school strategies that are proven to promote and support student mental health and well-being.
  • The guide describes approaches and examples of evidence-based policies, programs, and practices for each strategy.
