A student in the Gates Chili School District has been accused of raping another student on school grounds earlier this month.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act, both felonies, said Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode.
The teen, a student at Gates Chili High School, is being charged as an adult. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, also a student, inside the high school around 3 p.m. of Sept. 17, the chief said.
Authorities learned of the alleged incident the next day and charges were filed after a week long investigation, VanBrederode said.
