Revamped exams to be administered to grades 3-8 beginning today

Students in grades 3-8 will begin taking new standardized ELA tests today, and new math tests are coming soon. These tests have been long in development — they’re supposed to measure how well students know grade-bygrade learning standards adopted by New York in 2017.
Scores on last year’s tests were generally poor statewide, but the value of these federally mandated exams has been hotly debated for years.
