The Rochester City School District Tuesday rescinded a major school closure proposal, conceding it did not do enough to persuade either residents or school board members.
Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small in November proposed a series of mergers, closures and reconfigurations that would have touched a dozen schools and programs and closed five of them.
Instead, Deputy Superintendent Genelle Morris told the school board Tuesday, only one piece of the plan remains: closing Leadership Academy for Young Men and filling its place at the Charlotte campus with Northeast College High School.
