For Hilton Central School District Superintendent Casey Kosiorek, the sentiments he felt when elementary principal Kirk Ashton was accused of molesting boys at the school mirrored those of the community: shock, betrayal, anger.
“An elementary principal is a rock star,” Kosiorek said in an interview Monday. “He or she is out there at the bus loop, welcoming children.
“No matter where you are in the situation, you thought you knew Mr. Ashton.”
Ashton, now suspended from his job as principal at Northwood Elementary School, is accused of molesting 11 boys at the school.
