DeMarle INC is nonpartisan but DeMarle INC does strongly believe in the importance of voting and encourages all of you to vote no matter who you will vote for. However part of the mission of DeMarle INC is also to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. Hence you have seen and will see posts about important legislation and other issues that can and do impact the rights of people of all abilities. As such, DeMarle INC strongly encourages all of you to become familiar with the policies being promoted or as being likely to be implemented by both major parties.

DeMarle INC works with parents to obtain their children’s services through the Committee on Special Education process. Those services are mandated by Federal and State laws. Those laws are promulgated and enforced through the Federal Department of Education So, it is important that you become familiar with and share with those who support you, or you and your children about the growing movement to abolish the federal Department of Education and about the other policy changes being pushed by the Republican Presidential candidate and many members of the Republican party. These changes, if enacted, could result in the gutting of some or all the services you have fought for and obtained. As another example, you may have heard about efforts to gut or abolish Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. The key thing to remember is that the I in DEI is inclusion. Inclusion is about people of different abilities/people with disabilities. The fight to do away with DEI is a movement to take away the possibilities for those people. It is important that you become familiar with these issues so that you can take that knowledge to the polling booth when you vote.
