EmpowHer Camp is a fun and exciting one year program for girls with disabilities ages 13-17. EmpowHer Camp starts with one week of adventurous camping in the Adirondacks where we explore nature, make friends, and laugh around the campfire. We also connect with mentors who will help us set goals and achieve them! After our camping trip is over, girls go home and work on a project that interests them with the help of their mentor who they talk with every month! Next summer, girls go on a trip to Washington, D.C.! In D.C. girls will reunite with their friends and mentor, present their projects, and explore our nation’s capital! We will be selecting 10 girls for our
2021 EmpowHer Camp program.

Meet Kimi & Victoria! Kimi is a 16 year old Autistic young woman. Kimi is a good student who loves Star Wars, especially the droids. Kimi does not like being around a lot of noise or people. Kimi often says “I have a hard time understanding people & people have a hard time understanding me.” We matched Kimi with Victoria Rodríguez-Roldán! Victoria is a proud Autistic woman & a senior policy analyst in Washington, D.C. Like Kimi, Victoria was a good student. In fact, Victoria graduated from the University of Puerto Rico & University of Maine School of Law. Victoria sent Kimi a video letter sharing her own story and giving Kimi some great words of wisdom! In fact, Victoria takes being a role model very seriously. “I signed up to be part of this program because part of my activism is to make sure younger generations have it better than we did. I wish I had positive role models growing up, so I feel it is my duty to try to be one now that I am all grown up,” said Victoria. We know that Victoria has already had an impact on Kimi. Kimi told us, “Victoria said having autism is like having the force and I agree!” Want to help us connect more girls with disabilities to successful disabled women mentors?
