Calls may be mounting from parents, pediatricians and the president for schools to reopen in the fall, but it’s up to leaders of New York’s 700 school districts to work out the minute details of how to teach students in the age of social distancing.
If schools open soon after Labor Day – a decision set for the first week of August – local administrators will have a matter of weeks to make pressing decisions about when students should be in school, how to get them there, how to assign teachers and what to do for stressed-out students and families.
