Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School No. 9 is the largest bilingual elementary school in the Rochester City School District. It is home to an array of enrichment programs run by teachers who say empowering their students and the community is the focus.
The creative program lessons deepen and strengthen relationships with students while reinforcing topics taught in class, the school’s educators said.
And all that is happening at School 9 despite the layoffs and staffing changes that can make relationships tenuous when they sever the ties between students and teachers.
